Bachelor's degree in International Relations
Overview
The career aims to train professionals capable of comprehensively managing plans, projects, functions and activities in the international arena, through a critical and multidisciplinary study that analyzes current problems, their causes and development in the international sphere.
In this sense, it is convenient to develop comprehensive strategies to celebrate treaties andagreements, redefine public policies based on national economic development fostered by the actions of international actors with interests in Mexico; and of course, improve the ties of friendship between countries.
Objectives of the International Relations program:
★ Provide students with the theoretical-methodological tools of the discipline of international relations necessary for the analysis of world reality.
★ Develop the specifi c knowledge and basic skills required for the professional performance of an internationalist, at the local, state, national and global levels.
★ Instill in students ethical values that allow a high quality professional practice.
★ It prepares students in public policy decision-making processes related to global aspects.
Admission Profile
★ Identify the most relevant periods in the history of Mexico and the world that allow them to understand the national and international evolutionary process, highlighting the main events that defi ne the political, economic and social order.
★ Diff erentiate the main political and economic systems that have existed in the world, locating them spatially and temporally.
★ Basic knowledge of world history, geography, economics, political science, sociology, law and English.
★ Ease of oral and written expression for research based on qualitative and quantitative methods, the writing of essays and the analysis of international phenomena.
★ High interest in global issues and curiosity to understand Mexico's role in the world. A marked sensitivity to social problems whose origin and solution have international components. Taste for reading and good writing.
Graduates Profile
Graduates of the Bachelor's Degree in International Relations will be competent to:
★ Evaluate proposals for the solution of human rights problems, joining multidisciplinary groups for the outgrowth of a respectful society.
★ Contribute to the solution of international environmental problems by joining multidisciplinary groups to support sustainable development.
★ Promote programs that allow the socioeconomic development of the country, with initiative and social commitment.
★ Contribute to the better functioning of the Mexican foreign service by applying knowledge of foreign policy in the fi eld of diplomatic and consular relations, with responsibility and effi ciency.
★ Promote understanding between organizations and social groups based on international and regional agreements and treaties, for the resolution of confl icts with certainty and decision.
★ Evaluate the diff erent interests that infl uence the determination of the areas of infl uence of the states through the analysis of the historical and contemporary context of the relations between them to explain the role that each one of them plays in the international context as well as the causes and development of international
conflicts.
★ Propose solutions to cross-border problems between Mexico and the United States, in order to contribute to the development of the region through documentary and field research and by joining multidisciplinary groups.
★ Analyze the international economic and social dynamics through the use of quantitative and qualitative comparison criteria to verify its incidence in International Relations.

The graduate of the International Relations career may develop his professional activity in:
★ Consulting: For institutions that require information related to international relations.
Private Institutions:
★ Private businesses.
★ Media.
Public institutions:
★ In the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) and the Mexican Foreign Service (SEM), working in the diff erent embassies, consulates and permanent representations of Mexico in the world.
★ State offi ces of international aff airs.
★ Government offi ces at the federal level and decentralized units.
★ In the Legislative Power, they can be located in the foreign aff airs committees that make up the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies.
Other instances
★ Institutions of higher education, public or private.
★ International organizations.
★ Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
Synthesis of the Study Plan
1. Basic stage: Includes a Common Core of 3 semesters with a total of 109 credits, where 97 of them are compulsory and 12 are optional. The learning units for this stage are 17 compulsory and 2 optional.
2. Disciplinary stage: Common Core of 3 semesters. Includes 84 compulsory credits and 42 electives. The learning units for this stage are 14 compulsory and 7 optional.
3. Terminal stage: Common Core of 2 semesters. Includes 30 compulsory credits and 30 optional credits. The learning units for this stage are 5 compulsory and 5 optional.
